Cucumber Toor Dal Sambar Recipe
Ingredients:
6 dried red chillies (adjust for spiciness)
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Small piece of tamarind
1 small onion
2-3 garlic cloves
1 cup toor dal (pigeon peas)
1-2 cups chopped cucumber
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil for cooking
Steps:
1. Soak tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes.
2. Grind red chillies, coriander seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, tamarind, onion, and garlic into a smooth paste.
3. Cook the toor dal until soft.
4. Add chopped cucumber to the cooked dal and cook until tender.
5. Add the ground spice paste (masala) to the dal and cucumber mixture.
6. Add salt and simmer for 5-10 minutes until all flavors combine.
7. Serve hot with rice or as you like.
